This week’s book sharer is Dominique Harmse, who is mom to Liam (6) and Olivia (3) and wife to a “gamer nerd”. Dom is also the director of Hello Conversations, a communications agency.
My top 5 favourite books are:
1. The Story Sisters by Alice Hoffman
2. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
3. Q&A (also known as Slumdog Millionaire) by Vikas Swarup
4. PS, I Love You by Cecelia Ahern
5. The Time Traveller’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
My best chick lit book is Anybody Out There? by Marian Keyes – an oldie but a goodie!
My best autobiography is Scar Tissue, the autobiography of the RHCP lead singer Anthony Kiedis. How the guy is still alive after all the things he got up to, I don’t know…
My favourite kids’ book growing up was anything by Enid Blyton or Roald Dahl. I read “The Magic Faraway Tree” and “The BFG” over and over again.
My best motivational book is Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg. I read it at a turning point in my career. I learnt a lot about myself, my management style and most importantly, how to ask for more help with the kids at home!
The book that I’ll reread again and again is Smacked by Melinda Ferguson. Her story about her addiction and subsequent recovery is completely absorbing and so compelling. I met Melinda a few years ago and I was starstruck – she went through so much to get to where she is today, an accomplished author and publisher, it’s inspirational.
What I’m reading now? Sheila O’Flanagan’s The Perfect Man and Nelson Mandela’s Conversations with Myself – a very odd combo, I know!
If I was a writer, I wish I would have written My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult
My kids’ favourite books are The Gruffalo, the Fancy Nancy series or any of the Disney character storybooks
My best author is Jodi Picoult. One of my prized possessions is a signed copy of her last book The Storyteller
