It might be Valentine’s Day on the 14th, but did you know it’s also International Book Giving Day? Almost every day there’s a random “World” day (eg World Towel Day, World Chocolate Cake Day), but this one is a goodie – it could encourage reading, plus it’s a pretty awesome gift to give on the 14th if you’re not into giving your loved one heart-shaped chocolates or boxer shorts with hearts emblazoned on them. It’s also an opportunity to give the gift of reading to your child, and make it into an event.
To celebrate books and International Book Giving Day, Pan Macmillan is giving away a cool kids’ hamper with the following books (entry details at the bottom of the post)
Do you want to take part in International Book Giving Day? Pan Macmillan has the following tips:
1) Gift a book to a friend or family member,
2) Leave a book in a waiting room for children to read
3) Donate a gently used book to a local library, hospital or shelter or to an organisation that distributes used books to children in need internationally.
For more information, head to the Book Giving Day site.
