This week, I'm featuring one of my best bloggers and moms, Sarah Booyens, mom of gorgeous Aria and cute pooch Moose. Sarah and I arranged our mama meetup a few weeks ago, and we hope to plan some more this year.
Over to Sarah…
Tell us about yourself:
I’m Sarah from Mascara & Mimosas. I am one quarter of my crazy tribe of four: little Aria who is almost one, my hubby Dan and our fur child, Moose. I live in Jozi but my heart is at the coast. If you pop over to my blog, you'll find a good mix of beauty, parenting and personal posts.
It really is my little space to let loose! You can follow me on Instagram, Twitter (@mascara_mimosas) and Facebook. I hope that you enjoy this little glimpse inside of my life (and handbag it seems!).
What's always in your handbag?
My handbag and nappy bag are one in the same so: cellphone, wallet, baby wipes, nappies, make up bag, change of clothes and snacks for Aria. And then a whole bunch of scrunched up receipts.
What are the beauty products you’d take with you if there was a fire?
Number one with a gun is my Mama Mio Gorgeous Glow cleanser. A very close second is my Urban Decay Perversion mascara. And then if the fire hadn’t quite got to me yet, I would grab my Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream and my LUSH Ro’s Argon shower gel.
What are your nappy bag staples?
Besides the obvious nappies and wipes, definitely snacks and some water. And then I always make sure that I have one or two toys.
What’s in your cubbyhole?
My car manual, an old iPod and probably a few loose CDs.
What’s in your lunchbag regularly?
I eat lunch at home so usually it’s leftovers from the previous nights dinner, a tuna salad or something else simple and relatively healthy. Although I have been known to have four rusks and a cappuccino and call it lunch so…
What's your favourite perfume?
Ellie Saab, hands down.
What's your favourite lipstick?
Oh man, I have so many at the moment!
- Urban Decay – Ex Girlfriend
- Essence – Matt Matt Matt 02
- Chanel – Rouge Allure Velvet 57 Rouge Feu
- Elizabeth Arden – Coppertan Shimmer 10
- MAC – Dreaminess
Name your top five kids' books
We try to read to Aria but her attention span isn’t that massive yet so we only get a few pages in. But I love the Rahl Dahl collection, Guess How Much I Love You, Dr Seuss, Peppa Pig and The Hungry Caterpiller.
What food/s do you wish had no kilojoules?
All forms of carbs and sugar, of course.
What are your favourite tips/products for making you look like you’ve had a great night’s sleep?
This is a bit of an odd one but it works – put a metal tablespoon in the fridge until it’s pretty cold. Then hold it against your under eye are for a minute. I find that this really de-puffs the area. Other than that, good ol’ concealer does the trick.
What’s always in your fridge?
Water, milk, yogurt, peppers, zucchini, carrots and cheese.
What are your best parenting websites/resources?
To be honest, I kind of wing it. But in the beginning I really found the Baby Sense book and app helpful. And of course my midwife, who is like my fairy godmother.
What are the best baby products you couldn’t do without?
Definitely Sudacrem. That stuff is the bomb for any type of rash. My high chair is just the best to plonk Aria in so she is contained for a few minutes and last but not least, I love my mosquito net that we bought from Mr Price Home.
