If your hair is coloured, highlighted, damaged, dull or just feeling drab, you might want to know about L’Oréal Smartbond, which stylists are talking about as the latest "it" treatment, and where clients are hailing it as a hair saviour.
Not since Olaplex launched has there been this much talk over a treatment, which my colour expert Shelene Shaer of Tanaz is calling brilliant.
What is Smartbond?
Smartbond is essentially a treatment to restore the health of your hair by rebuilding the keratin bonds that have weakened or even broken during the colouring process.
The system consists of three steps – the first protects and strengthens your hair during the colouring process itself, the second step is a pre-shampoo to remove the chemical residue from your hair and seal in the effects of the treatment, and the third is an at-home conditioning treatment that you use weekly in between shampoo'ing and conditioning.
I have my hair coloured every two months ago, plus I have an awful habit of splitting my ends, so I was happy for my hair to soak up a treatment (R450). I had it done during my recent colour treatment at Tanaz. It only took a few minutes to apply, and the difference I felt in my hair after blowdrying was huge. Yes, my hair feels softer after a blowdry, but my hair was silkier and less brittle than before, and I couldn't stop flicking it around the whole day, as one does with great hair.
I got the at-home treatment too (R400 for a ml bottle), and if salon Smartbond is anything to go by, I'm confident that weekly usage will help maintain this shiny, strong and lustrous hair I'm now flicking around.
