Checkers doing big things with food for little ones

September 7, 2017

First it was theOh My Goodness! Gordon Ramsay range of prepared meals for kids, and now it's a sensational snack range that tastes good, and is pretty healthy as far as kids' ranges go.

Developed exclusively for Checkers by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and his daughter Matilda, Oh My Goodness! snacks are good for lunchboxes, handbags and cubbyholes (in case of kiddie hunger when you're on the go), but there's no reason why you can't tuck into them too – I love the fruit gums and chutney rice cakes.

The snacks start from R6.99 each and include the following:

  • Mini rice cakes – No MSG and naturally gluten free
  • Health bars – Raw, preservative free and with no added sugar
  • Fruit gums – Consists of 99% fruit with no preservatives, artificial colours or flavours
  • Flavoured milks – Preservative-free, full-c
  • ream milk with no artificial colours or flavours
  • Smooth, full cream yoghurts – Contain real fruit & veg
  • Berry-flavoured sparkling drinks – High in vitamin C and made with natural spring water
  • Cookies – Contains 30% reduced sugar

Being a working mom with a big focus on building healthy eating habits, it’s not always easy to implement ot when packing lunches daily. Kids get bored quickly and I admittedly choose for convenience first most of the time.

I was really excited when this range was launched because it met both my need for convenience and healthy choices – I was first in line so to speak to stock up on these delicious lunchbox treats.

Sadly, upon multiple visits to my local Checkers in Bryanston, they have yet to stock anything further than the microwave meals. My sister, who stays on the opposite side of Jo’burg has experienced the same thing at her local store.

I don’t really know where the problem lies, but I am very disappointed over a month after the launch, I still can’t get the products as advertised.

Really sorry to hear this. The snack range is fairly new, so maybe it’s just a matter of time. Have you chatted to a store manager there?
