I got Woolworths and Pick n Pay groceries delivered in two hours

May 29, 2018

You might remember that a few weeks ago I wrote a blog post about OneCart, a new online service where you can order from Pick n Pay, Woolworths, DisChem, Mr Pet (Pets by OneCart), Fitchef and OneCart Bottles (Booze by OneCart), and have them delivered in two hours. You can order small items, do that dreaded monthly shop or even order groceries for someone else.

I was recently sick in bed (this virtually never happens), and was craving grapes and Woolies soup. I felt too ill to get up and about, and while my husband probably would have done it, it didn’t feel right to ask him to leave work to tend to my eating whims. He had already filled my script, set up my nebuliser, bought me Jelly Tots, and done all the child duties.

What was a sick mom to do, other than log onto OneCart, and do some online shopping! (one of my best activities).

I was able to shop for my urgent soup needs, and get some odds and ends for the husband and toddler.

Here’s how it went:

And here’s the correspondence:

And here are my soup, grapes and more…

This service is a brilliant solution for last-minute orders and every other type of shopping, and it was a bit surreal for me getting groceries delivered within two hours, rather than within a few days. My cat will be happy with this service – I often forget to top up her food, and have to resort to buying her kibble she doesn’t adore because the pet shops are closed.

Good to knows

  • Currently OneCart delivers throughout JHB north east (Randburg – Sandton – Norwood – Linksfield – Edenvale – Bedfordview and all suburbs between). They are expanding delivery to JHB South and Pretoria East at the beginning of June, and the Western Cape in October. They will reach Durban next year.
  • They deliver Monday to Friday from 10am to 7pm, and on Saturdays from 10am to 3pm.
  • There’s no markup on products, and there’s a R55 flat rate delivery fee regardless of the number of stores. The minimum spend is R150, and you can order from all stores in one shopping order with no extra charges.

Oh wow. This is a brilliant concept. I’d read your initial post about it but this is even better, seeing how it actually worked. I can’t wait for October to come so that we can order as well. Woollies is the only online store that has next day delivery options and sometimes even that’s too long a wait LOL.

What a fantastic concept and service. Only thing missing were the jelly tots.
