Encourage reading with the Exclusive Books 1 Club Festival

March 19, 2012

I love that Exclusive Books doesn’t forget the little ones with its 1 Club Festival until April 16 that will not only have lots of cool activities, but will showcase the best of youth titles for kids age 3 to 15, plus books for older teens in the young adult category.

For ages three to six, there are many favourites from Julia Donaldson such as The Odd Pet and other stories, The Scrap Rocket and other stories and The Gruffalo. Dora the Explorer: Stay Safe by Nickelodeon is another bestseller that every little girl’s bookshelf deserves. There are also some local reads that are captivating our littlest audiences; Doen dit self Kookhuns by Priddy, Running Rhino by Mweyne Hadithi and The Boy Who Cried Ninja by Alex Latimer.

For the six to nine age group there is a wide selection including The Lorax by Dr Seuss, Jakkals en Wolf by Pieter Grobbelaar, the Dinosaur Cove series by Rex Stone and Monster High Lisi Harrison.

Children between the ages of 10 and 14 can look forward to A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness, Artichoke Hearts by Sita Brahmachan and My Sister Lives on the Mantelpiece by Annabel Pitcher.

For the young adults, there are fast -paced adventures and futuristic heroes in novels such as Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Infernal Devices: Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare, Divergent by Veronica Roth and BZRK by Michael Grant.

There will be select entertaining and educational activities at the flagship stores (think Lego Dinosaurs Party, plus interactions with characters from the book). Check your store for details.
