I wish I still had all my school reports, records and pics – as a mom, I treasure memories, and I’m trying to keep all my son’s pictures, cards and keepsakes as organised as possible so that hopefully he’ll one day look back and oooh, aaaah and have some fond memories (and shits and giggles!)
I recently discovered wonderful journals that allow you to record your child’s school years (starting with preschool and ending in matric).
There are 96 pages, and 15 pockets (one for each grade), and there are different colours for each school phase. There is space for artwork, school photos hand tracings, and there’s a space for your child to write their name each year so you can see how their writing changes. You can also record school info, teachers’ names, subjects, friends and achievements, plus your child’s height and weight.
There are gorgeous illustrations and poems and quotes, making it a good read even before the book is finished. What I love is that it also encourages your child to write and contribute to the journal too.
Each journal costs R250, and can be ordered via the Organise Journalise website. The best part of the website is that you can take a virtual tour of the journal, flipping through each page so that you can get a good idea of what it looks like. You can also find out more via their Facebook page. I can’t wait to start my book next year.
