I raise my glass to this…

I love the new Grip & Go from Consol, a glass bottle for liquids that are great for keeping in the car, nappy bag or handbag. It holds 500ml and has a silicone sleeve and twist-off lid.

I don’t know about you, but ever since that scary warning went out a few years ago that ordinary plastic water bottles should not be used more than two or three times owing to cancer risks, I never refill bottles, which means I don’t drink that much, or have to fork out for water.

As for the rest of Consol jars, I may or may not have a problem when it comes to buying. I use them for storing everything from nuts and sweets to crayons and toy cars, and for my son’s party a few weeks ago, I made up favours comprising a glass jar with sweets and a chalk label on each. On my desk are jars filled with highlighters, Hello Kitty pens and pencils (another “problem”), pens and markers.

I also recently got a Consol solar jar, and here’s my shot of it after a day in the sun:

Here is some other inspiration using Consol glass – think Christmas gifts, end-of-year presents for teachers, storage, and decoration.

There are Consol stores in Woodmead and Stellenbosch. For stockists details email here, or go to their website
