If you’re wanting a more’ish, easy-to-make biscuit that is a tad healthier than others, then you gotta try this crunchie recipe, passed on by my gran. These crunchies bring back memories of my gran making them for us, and then my mom, and now me, and they’re divine.
With seven ingredients, this recipe takes about 12 minutes from prep to oven.
Here’s the recipe:
- 1 and a half cups of Sasko flour
- 1 cup oats
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup ground coconut
- 150g butter
- 1 tablespoon syrup
- one teaspoon bicarbonate of soda mixed with about 60ml boiling water
Method: Heat the oven to 150 degrees (celsius). Mix the flour, oats, sugar and cinnmon together. Melt the butter and syrup, and combine with flour mixture and bicarb. Flatten out the crumbly mixture in a greased pan and press down well. Bake for 30 minutes, cut into squares while still hot, and remove from the pan when cool.
Note: My baking time was a lot longer: around 50 minutes. I also left the crunchies in the oven for another 15 minutes to dry out.
