A few months ago I went on a Woolworths Mom’s Store Tour at Nicolway in Joburg, and blogged about it here.
We went up and down the food aisles, while a dietitian gave us food advice, and tips on how pack healthy lunches, how to encourage kids to eat fruit and veggies, and what foods to choose for healthy development in children. We also got to enjoy delish and healthy snacks afterwards.
Woolworths offers these tours for free, and they offer a great opportunity to mingle, learn and taste. A typical tour starts with a short session on the food groups (how they should be included in a balanced meal), and is followed by an hour-long store tour to see healthy and suitable products. Food labelling is also explained, assisting parents to ensure that their children are receiving the correct nutrients at each meal. The tour ends with a Q&A session and tastings, while recipes are also made available.
The next tours will take place at Woolworths Menlyn Park Shopping Centre in Pretoria on Wednesday 20 March at 7pm, and Woolworths Musgrave Centre in Berea (KwaZulu-Natal) on Wednesday 20 March at 10am. The tours will focus on “Balanched lunchboxes“.
