Anita Boxoza is Joburg mom of Kamva and Lee, and blogger at The Cinnamon Princess. Here she shares her 12 things.
The best parenting advice I ever got was… The dishes and cleaning of the house can wait! Spend time with your children. This is something I take to heart every day, my house is a mess most of the time but my kids I happy, what else can a mommy ask for?
The worst parenting advice I ever got was… It’s not really advice but before I had Kamva I read everywhere how by a certain age kids are supposed to be sleeping through. It made me feel like such a failure when she was still waking up to feed. Seriously, lines like that should be removed from books, sleep is such a ‘sore’ topic for most parents!
My favourite perfume at the moment is… Picking one is so hard! My mom uses Chloe Narcisse which is I absolutely love but so old fashioned and I also love Kenzo Jungle
My favourite lip product is… plain old lip balm
My favourite skincare product at the moment is… Benzac AC 5 for my acne-prone skin and Ponds BB cream.
In my nappy bag, you’ll always find… Wipes and Kamva’s shades. I can leave everything at home but not those two. Kamva wears her shades in every weather and well wipes we need to wipe dirty hand and snotty noses.
In my cubbyhole, you’ll always find… Wipes and tissues
In my handbag, you’ll always find… Chocolate and tissues. I can’t get enough of chocolate – I have to always have some on hand.
In my fridge, you’ll always find… tomatoes and juice. Kamva can’t go a day without eating a tomato.
My best baby buy has been… an Avent microwave sterilizer. It’s one of the few baby goods I bought which I am also using with Lee. I love that it fits all kinds of bottles and not just Avent.
I want to be remembered as a mom who… loves her family and children dearly. One who tries not to sweat the small stuff, supports her family in all their want to do and tries to fun with her children.
Before I was a mom, I wish I had have known… how pregnancy changes your body! It’s really something I struggle with. I thought everything went back to its place. I wish I had also known that when you have kids, sleep is overrated.
