Placenta smoothies… you heard it here

Eating your placenta after you give birth is not a new thing, nor do I wish to judge. It is believed that eating your placenta is good for energy and recovery as it contains nutrients and good hormones, and aids lactation, but there is little scientific proof to back it up (according to the articles I came across on Dr Google).

So, first women ingested their placenta raw or in capsule form, but now the placenta smoothie seems to be a new a new trend.

According to The Stir, former America’s Next Top Model star Lisa D’Amato welcomed a baby boy. She shared this photo of two of her friends enjoying what resembles a berry smoothie, which she hints contains her placenta as one of the ingredients.

She captioned the pic with: “Placenta smoothie party w/@joaniedodds @spraguetheleg who’s next?!?!”

Oy vey. I hope this might have been a joke.
