I’ve been waiting for a smartphone like this for ages – one that you don’t have to worry about if it falls in the bath, if your child spills water on it, or if it gets rained on. In fact, with the Sony Xperia Z2, you can even swim with it and take pics of the kids without worrying that you’ll never be able to post them to Instagram or Facebook.
It’s rated as the best water-resistant Android cellphone, based on something called an IP (Ingress Protection) rating. It’s completely sealed up, which means nothing can get in – including grime and dust – and to charge it you need to open up plastic flaps.
Beyond this amazing water feature (so to speak), the Sony Xperia Z2 also has a great camera (27 megapixels = great) and screen, a good-lasting battery (I got through a day of emails and social media and instant messaging without charging) and you and your kids can play Playstation games on it, or link wirelessly to a Playstation 3 DualShock controller.
This is one phone I feel really safe with around liquids, and would happily entrust this to my child who has a fondness for playing with apps and sometimes even drinking on the job.
