I am the last person to give advice on vitamins and medication, and often stay away from writing about products whose medical claims and promises I can’t vouch for.
BUT, if something works for me, I will share it, and while I can’t necessarily explain the science or guarantee that it will work for you, the six things that have kept me away from the doctor and meds this season are McNabs SuperGuard tablets. I started taking them after Comrades Marathon this year when I was blocked up, my immunity was low, and I was a bit down about not having finished the race.
I have taken SuperGuard every day since then, and whether it’s that, or just luck, I’ve managed to stay fairly healthy and in the cosmetics aisles of my local DisChem, and not in the pharmaceuticals queue. I also realise that the universe has a weird sense of humour and that I might be struck by flu once this blog post is published, in which case I’ll just up my dose of SuperGuard.
Each sachet of McNabs SuperGuard contains six tablets, and have no sugar and are suitable for vegans. The healthy people of McNabs tell me that one can take SuperGuard during the early stages of colds and flu, or as a preventative as it strengthens the immune system.
The tablets contain vitamins A, B, C, D and E, copper, selenium and zinc, and garlic and Sutherlandia (apparently Africa’s most powerful immune-boosting herb).
The vitamins are available from chemists and health stores, and each sachet also has a motivational quote of the day.
There are other vitamins in the range (SuperCharge and SuperChill), as well as energy bars. For more info, head to www.mcnabs.biz
