3 reasons why M-Net Movies Family deserves a round of applause (and begs for a big box of popcorn)

December 2, 2014

Hats off to M-Net Movies Family who are offering a few things to keep families entertained and little hands busy too.

First off, with the holidays starting soon, and us parents looking for cool things to do, M-Net has has covered with kiddies DIY activity sessions. The first activation starts in Joburg on Friday (the 5th) at Fourways Mall, and runs until Sunday, and is open from 10am to 3pm. Kids can expect a photo booth, games, colouring-in stations, qualified child minders, and take-home activity packs, themed around the move lineup.

These are themed according to the daily film so you and your child can enjoy your creations while watching the 4pm movie. I got a sample box, and I was ecstatic to see that they are made by Explore More, which are phenomenal craft activity boxes (I wrote about them here).

Secondly, M-Net Movies will show a family movie every day at 4pm, on DStv channel 105. And best of all this isn’t just a holiday or Christmas special – this is an all-year offering (woohoo!). This week and weekend, movies include The Muppet Christmas Carol, The Fox and the Hound, Santa Clause 3, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, So Undercover, and Here Comes The Book. I like how the movies cover many age groups, but they’re all still essentially “family” shows.

And lastly, but not least(ly), there’s a great M-Net Movies Pinterest page with activity ideas centred around the movies, that are as easy to make as they are to pin to your boards (and this is coming from someone who generally stays away from arts and crafts). Activities include decorating Frozen cut-out masks, making Despicable Me cupcakes, or baking a Jake Skellington cookie cake. For ideas or to follow the board, click M-Net Movies Pinterest page.
