GLÜKi organic baby and mom skincare range worth paying attention to (and it’s not tested on animals)

September 3, 2015

Looking for an internationally certified organic mom and baby bodycare range that’s not tested on animals, then you probably want to know more about GLÜKi Organics, one of the most exciting ranges I’ve tried in a while.

I must say that the clean packaging and subtle yet beautiful fragrances appealed to me more than the organic part at first, but at a time when moms are looking for the purest products, and ones that aren’t tested on animals, one can’t discount the organic significance.

I don’t know much about organic certification, but I do know that not all certification is “equal” and that some products labelled organic might not have at least 95 percent organically produced ingredients, or they might just be “natural” products posing as “organic”.

GLÜKi products are fully certified by ECOCERT France Greenlife, which apparently is the most widely recognised international certification and regulatory body for Organic Cosmetics. ECOCERT prohibits the use of petrochemicals such as petroleum, parrafinum and mineral oil, parabens made from petrochemicals, sulphates (including sodium laurel sulphate) and synthetic fragrances which are often included in baby and personal care products.

GLÜKi Organics is an accredited partner of PhytoTrade Africa and endorsed by Beauty Without Cruelty.

The product range is made up of the following products:
– Organic Baby Bum Cream
– Organic Baby Shampoo
– Organic Baby Moisturizing Lotion
– Organic Baby Oil Gel
– Organic Baby Body Wash
– Organic Baby Powder
– Organic Baby Bedtime Bubble Bath
– Organic Mother Nipple Cream
– Organic Mother Hand & Moisturising Lotion
– Organic Hygienic Handwash
– Organic Tissue Oil
– Lip Balm

Products start from around R129.99 each, which you might balk at, but I suspect after you’ve tried out one or two products, you’ll get why these products cost a bit more.

I started off my GLÜKi trial with the Baby Body Wash, Baby Shampoo, and Baby Moisturizing Lotion, and though my son is hardly a baby anymore,I love using the products on him – they smell amazing, are easily applied and absorbed, and my son glowed after his first GLÜKi bath.

Other standout products in the baby range are the Bedtime Bubble Bath (with extracts of Kalahari melon seed oil, aloe vera leaf extract, orange peel oil and rooibos extract), and Baby Oil Gel (with marula oil, orange peel oil and vitamin E).

In the mom range, my favourites include the tissue oil (great for the moisturising and giving a glow to my skin showing itself in spring clothing), Mother Hand & Body Moisturizing Lotion (with Kalahari melon, organic rooibos extract, aloe vera, orange peel oil and essential omega oils), and Hygienic Handwash (with a lovely smell and texture that doesn’t feel typically medicinal or moisture stripping).

These are among my best products so far this year, and whether you’re in it for something new, something completely natural, something heavenly smelling, or something gentle, GLÜKi deserve a trial and a place in your nappy bag, bathroom cabinet and cleansing routine.

GLÜKi is stocked in over 200 independent and Netcare pharmacies and health stores countrywide, and online at Faithful to Nature. For stockist info, head to the GLÜKi website.
