In case you missed it, cult US beauty brand Urban Decay will be available in South Africa next month, and since L'Oreal's announcement in February that the brand was launching here, it's been rather an impatient wait for me. Much like my son who counts down to his next birthday just after his previous one.
That Urban Decay will be here soon means I no longer have to ask friends to "mule" palettes and primers for me from overseas, nor pay high exchange rates (I believe the products will be more affordable in SA – around R850 for a palette, compared with around $54 in the US, excluding tax. Don't forget to include the tax – it significantly changes things). Last year, while in Sephora in Paris just after the rand fell (again), I contemplated what was more important – getting a new eyeshadow palette, or eating. nor do I have to stand in Sephora when I'm overseas contemplating whether it was more important to eat more than just baguettes for a few days, or get another palette.
And the palettes are what Urban Decay is probably most famous for. Also worth bagging are their other favourites: Eyeshadow Primer Potion, Makeup Setting Sprays (have a look at Sam Wright's fantastic review video of the spray here), 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (it's one of the smoothest and easy-to-apply eyeliner I've ever used), and Perversion Mascara.
Good to know is that the products aren't tested on animals (they're vegan). Watch the media for more information on other store openings.
