For the last three years, Amy Westerman has donated thousands of nappies, blankets, clothes, toys and baby goods to needy moms around South Africa. Her charity, The Grace Factory, does phenomenal work in looking after moms and infants, and two weeks ago, she wanted to treat pregnant moms, so she arranged a baby shower for 34 women at Actonville Primary School in Benoni.
The moms enjoyed a brunch of cupcakes, sausage rolls, tea, coffee and juice, and each received a maternity pack of nappies, maternity pads, blanket, baby outfit and essential toiletries. They also got breastfeeding, developmental and baby care booklets.
A developmental talk was given by occupational therapist Kabi Krige, while Sister Lynette from Mary Moodley Clinic chatted about pregnancy health. Sponsors for the day were Cherubs, Johnsons and Bennets, along with "friends" of The Grace Factory who donated their time and food..
Good news is that The Grace Factory operates in Port Elizabeth and Cape Town too, so if you can help in any way, or have any baby goods that you're ready to part with, give them a call.
