SkinMiles – where you’ll find the best of the best skincare products

July 12, 2017

SkinMiles is an online skincare store that's a cut above the rest. Instead of run-of-the-mill skincare products, you'll find best of the best skincare lines. Dr Alek Nikolic and SkinMiles help you take buying a skin care regime based on guesswork out of the picture and offer you professional recommendations on what is best for you and your skin.

SkinMiles is run by Dr Alek Nikolic and Geoff Cole who both oversee an expert team that consists of qualified skin therapists for product and skin advice, online web specialists to ensure the best shopping experience, and the SkinMiles team consisting of customer service and packing professionals.

Dr Alek Nikolic is a well-known aesthetic practitioner who not only performs cosmetic dermatology procedures and lectures extensively both locally and internationally to other cosmetic doctors, but also connects people to the best products for their skin types and skin concerns (he recently offered me the Obagi starter kit to try out, which I've been using, and will report on in a few weeks' time).

On the SkinMiles website, you can buy over 30 quality skincare brands such as SkinCeuticals (I rave about these products whenever I can), Filorga, NeoStrata, Dermaquest, Dermaceutic, and the more affordable Optiphi, La Roche Posay and Vichy to name a few. The big win here is that while most targeted skincare products require a doctor's script, you can order high-quality products on the site.

If you're unsure about your skin type or where to even start (it can get quite confusing with the huge range of products that target many skin concerns), there's a skin assessment, or a free online Face2Face Assessment with Dr Alek if you wish. You simply answer a few questions, and send a pic of your bare face, and Dr Alek will recommend products based on your skin's needs and concerns.

With every purchase, you earn rewards known as "SkinMiles", which you can use against your next online purchase (they're quite generous with their SkinMiles, and you don't have to spend a fortune or jump through hoops to get good SkinMiles back). All delivery on doctor-prescribed cosmeceuticals or skincare products is free in SA.

The service is pretty awesome too – from the constant correspondence about the status of your order (mine actually arrived two days after placing my order), to the handwritten message, beautiful packaging and follow-up call, it's a shopping and consumer experience that's in a class of its own.

Good to know is that there's a great blog section on the site, with some very informative pieces and videos from Dr Alek, who breaks down the science of skincare and products. I love how he explains how and why products work, making me trust them and their claims a whole lot more (I've become a bit distrusting of many products and their big promises).

For more info, head to the website, or email Dr Alek.
