Hot on our gaming console: The news Cars 3 game

August 3, 2017

This holiday, in between holiday school and Minecraft, my son has been enjoying Cars 3: Driven to Win, a video game that has been as fun for him to play, as the film has been to watch.

It's a competitive racing game that features characters such as Lightning McQueen and Doc Hudson from the Disney-Pixar film, plus new characters. Children (or adults, come to think of it) can play the game on their own or with friends.

Game modes include:

Race: Players must compete to see who can get to the finish line the fastest.

Battle Race: Racing, with weapons.

Takedown: Players must use weapons and power-ups to take out as many other cars as possible. When the timer runs out, the player with the most points wins.

Stunt Showcase: Players must put on a show by performing jumps and tricks to score points and impress the crowds.

Best Lap Challenge: Players must try to get the best lap time around a given course.

Playground: A sandbox mode that allows players to go racing, perform stunts, complete challenges, or just cruise around.

When I asked my seven-year-old son what he liked about the game, he answered that he enjoys racing, the speed, the different race options, the characters, the exciting tracks, and effects such as lights and sounds. So basically, pretty much everything then.

Cars 3: Driven to Win is available from game stores and Takealot, and prices are as follows:
