For the holidays, we got to try out KidloLand, an award-winning app for kids from one to five years, that has such an incredible amount of content (rhymes, songs, storybooks and games), that I’m still “working” through them.
It’s an app that teachers ABCs, numbers, trucks, colours, shapes, animals and more, and while my 15-month-old toddler is a bit too young to use the app as a means of learning, she still loved listening to the songs and interacting with the things on the screen (even if it meant thumping on the iPad a lot). Kids can therefore find the content that suits their age/level, and it’s an app that can really “grow” with your child.
One of the reasons why this app is fantastic is that it has bits of everything. Some apps tell stories, some apps teach ABCs, while others have songs and nursery rhymes. KidloLand has everything, and it’s easy to see why it’s so loved and highly rated, and why it’s garnered so many awards.
Though I didn’t count, I’ll take the developers’ word for it on the quantity of things to access via the app: 130+ popular nursery rhymes, 420+ songs, 205 stories, and 400+ educational activities and games, with more being added each month. There are also no ads at all – woohoo! (I’ve sometimes deleted apps because of the ads).
The app is available for iOS and Android, and you’ll need an internet connected to download the games/songs you want to play or listen to. Once the content is downloaded, you don’t need an internet connection to access it.
Note: The app is technically free, though you can access more content by paying for it. In-app purchases start at R29.99, or you can get KidloLand unlimited for R779.99. This might sound hefty, but before you decide, have a look at the massive content range first. Also, this app is suitable for kids up to five, so you can see it as an “investment”.
