If I was a kid, could throw and hit a ball, I’d want to win this… a chance to play with the Proteas. But for now, I’ll leave it to my cricket-crazy eight-year-old. who has asked his coach to join the KFC Mini Cricket programme so that his team stand a chance to play with the Proteas in the KFC T20 Internationals against Zimbabwe. There will be three KFC Mini-Cricket teams who will join the Proteas for two days – one leading up to the match, and one on match day.

While the past  five years have seen the KFC Mini-Cricket kids play against the Proteas, this is the first time the kids will be joining the national team o tour.

KFC Mini Cricket

Here’s what the winning teams can expect:

  • Day one will involve an intense warm-up session ahead of the KFC T20 International match, seeing the Proteas behind the scenes in a personal locker room experience and then running onto the pitch with them. There will be many chances to take selfies, sign autographs and high five their favourite cricketing hero while on Tour.
  • On match day, the kids will also be part of the formal proceedings such as throwing the coin toss which starts the day, singing the national anthem and getting active on the boundaries as ball boys or girls.

Sounds like something your kids might love? Then make sure their school teams are entered…

Schools and mini-cricketing teams across the country can get involved by dialling *120*7535# or visiting kfc.co.za/minicricket to enter. Entries close on September 16, 2018.
