Hatching toy eggs are still on kids’ wishlists, and here’s a brilliant new one to the fold, Nurchums, from Pollywiggles. There are three Nurchums ranges (dinosaur, fantasy and mermaid), and kids just need to place their eggs into water, and watch as they hatch and grow.
Aside from the fun and excitement factors, hatching toys like Nurchums encourage Socio Emotional Learning – kids get to exercise patience, and then gain rewards through delayed gratification. I must be honest – my son waited patiently for his Nurchum to hatch, and I just wanted to crack the whole thing open to see what was inside.
But we waited, and once the toy was hatched, we put it back in water for it to grow again. When out of water, the toy will return to its original size, so it doesn’t need to live in water forever.
Nurchums are available at Plasticland, Toys R Us, Toy Kingdom, other independent toy shops and Takealot and Loot. They retail at R89.99.
If your kid loves a surprise, here’s a cool one… soon I’ll be giving away one Nurchums toy. I can’t say when though… you’ll just have to wait patiently. It’s good practice for your egg, promise!
