I recently cleared out my pantry of products that had either expired, or that I bought, thinking it was a good idea at the time, but which remained untouched – for example oat bran, coconut flour and sugar-free sweets.
There were also some toddler snacks that my little one, Rebecca, didn’t really take to, and I was so hoping she would as some of them were fairly healthy, plus I like to ALWAYS have snacks on hand – for me and the kids, lest any of us get hangry.
Despite Kiddylicious looking good and getting really good reviews since they launched in South Africa a few months ago, I wasn’t expecting Rebecca to love them, to be honest.
But alas – it just took one bite of a Coconut Roll, and we had a winner. Ditto the Veggie Straws and Cheese Straws. They’re gluten free and additive free, and are apparently one of the brand’s biggest sellers, coming head-to-head in the UK with Farley’s Rusks, which have been around for more than 120 years, and which were previously the favoured teething food for infants.
Anyway, the Kiddylicious range comprises wafers (in strawberry and blueberry variants), Fruit Wiggles (in apple and strawberry flavours), Veggie Straws, Cheese Straws, and my best, Coconut Rolls (in plain and banana variants). These Coconut Rolls remind me of Tennis biscuits, and I love the crispy wafer texture.
You can pop any of them into cubbyholes, handbags and nappy bags for snacking on the go. I’ve now got a stash in my running pram for when Rebecca gets peckish. I confess to eating several packs of Coconut Rolls already…
They’re available at Baby City and Clicks and Clicks online.
Prices range from R14.99 for the Wriggles, and R69.99 for a box of Coconut Rolls (each box comes with eight mini packets, which makes them even more convenient). For more information on the products, and all the nutritional info, head to Kiddylicious.
