Even before it became the “it” drink, I’ve loved gin for ages, and while the purists might judge me on this one, I like it with sugar-free tonic water from Woolies (less guilt and kilojoules). I also like it neat, which might also be against the “rules”, but hey, I think it’s okay to drink out the box (not that kind of box, of course).
Drinks company Truman & Orange has a new gin on shelves – Malfy Gin Rosa, from Italy. (PS: Malfy was also a partner at our last #MamaMeetUpSA event). If we were going to buy on looks alone, this would be a winner – it comes in a beautiful frosted bottle decorated with traditional Italian glass painting techniques.
This pink beauty tastes sensational too – apparently juniper, grapefruit skins and rhubarb are infused in Italian grain spirit for 36 hours which results in its blush pink colour. This infusion is then blended with a second distillate of juniper, coriander, lemon peel, orange peel, Angelica root and Orris root for hours before finally being blended with pure, natural spring water from Italy.
It’s available at all good bottle stores nationwide for about R419 per bottle.
