5.38. That’s the amount of sleep I got last night. This info comes thanks (I think?) to my Fitbit app, where I can see how long I sleep each night, and how much of that sleep is “awake” time.
Apparently 1 in 3 of us aren’t getting enough (7 – 8 hours) or great sleep, which, according to experts, means we’re at risk of impaired memory, lack of alertness, reduced immunity, relationship stress, and inability to do daily tasks effectively.
There are also longer-term side effects such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attack, stroke, obesity and depression. And, gulp – we can get premature wrinkling and dark circles under our eyes too!
So you get the picture, and it’s a bleak one because sometimes there’s not much we can do if we have newborns, or kids who don’t sleep through, or… just life stuff getting in the way of 7 – 8 hours. And also that late-night scrolling through Facebook and Instagram, and before you know it, it’s midnight!
But, apparently the thing that can help is a good mattress, which can make a massive difference to the quality of your sleep, and therefore help your health. A good bed will support your back better, plus the more comfortable you are, the easier it will be to fall asleep. The more comfortable you are, the less likely you are to wake up during the night (as opposed to waking up to a creaking bed, or broken springs).
Which is where Sealy comes in… they have new-look beds with what they call “Posturepedic Technology”, and they’ve been revamped to give more support and value. S
The brand now has a new moody grey and black colour palette, premium design elements and state-of-the-art engineering on all their mattresses.
The beds offer exceptional support and comfort, providing back and body alignment to ensure a comfortable, healthy night’s sleep. While you sleep, different parts of your body need different levels of support, and Sealy Posturepedic Technology is designed to provide zoned support where it’s needed most.
In addition to the slick new look, you can now also choose from bases to go with your mattress. Pairing your mattress with the right bed base will help ensure your mattress/base combination is the best for you.
The Sealy brand includes fantastic mattress and pillow protectors, which you can use to protect your investments from spills and “accidents”, and therefore stains and marks. They are absolute musts for your bed, and your kids’ beds.
This week, you can win a Sealy Soft Touch Bamboo mattress protector and pillow protector. They’re easy to clean, highly absorbable and antibacterial, and allow air circulation to prevent heat buildup.
