Lego testing out a recycling programme

October 17, 2019

Don’t throw away your Lego, the Danish toymaker is saying. Rather, ship your unwanted bricks back, and get them into the hands of other kids.

In the US for now, Lego owners can print out a mailing label on its site, put their unwanted Lego bricks in a box, and ship them for free. Lego will then clean the pieces, put them in boxes, and give them to Teach for America, a nonprofit organisation that will donate them to classrooms across the US who need them.

If the programme is successful, Lego says it will expand the programme beyond the US.

Lego is apparently also working on finding other durable materials aside from plastic for its bricks.
