A few weeks ago I posted some tips on how to better sell your goods on Gumtree, and I came across some more good ones on the Gumtree Facebook page, submitted by people. Some of them are very clever, while others are quite funny, but make complete sense.
Here are some of the best reader tips:
– Make your heading interesting for the buyer to read more.
– Be honest,so that the buyers don’t feel left in the dark.
– Make your ad look easy-on-the-eyes, use a different or large font.
– Explain what that product meant to you – a little bit of feelings won’t harm.
– Respond! It won’t sell if you post it and leave it.
– Post your advert in the right category or else your products won’t sell.
– Bump up your advert or pay to have it highlighted as a top priority. Spend a little to get it to the top.
– Give a genuinely good deal. If your quality is good and your price competitive, you are more likely to make a sale.
– Be efficient in replying to responses from your adIn the body of your ad, always mention
– reason for selling,
– condition of the item,
– how long you have owned the item,
– and most importantly, any other nitty-gritty details that may be important to prospective buyers (Google helps)
– Take pictures in high-res and of the actual product – don’t use an image from Google.
– Double check your grammar, as bad spelling can be interpreted as a “scam” advert, so nobody will even bother to read any further.
– Be honest. Do not use words like” immaculate” or” spotless” if you product is not.
