Eco-friendly product of the week: Green.Kid stainless steel bottles

September 13, 2012

The latest buzzword in babies’ bottles is BPA, a chemical that was commonly found in bottles that was potentially harmful to your child’s health. Most leading bottle brands are free of BPA, but one maker, Green.Kids, has gone further with stainless steel bottles, that are safe, lead free, non-toxic and non-leaching.

What I love is that they come in funky colours (it’s all about packaging!), are leak-proof, dishwasher safe, can be used in other sterilisers and that they convert into a sippy cup which means that it can last from newborn stage to toddler stage. The measurements are indicated inside the bottle, but purists might find it irritating to have to open the bottle to see how much their baby has drunk rather than glancing quickly through the plastic.

There are two sizes – 150ml and 300ml, and prices start from R115.99 from the Green.Kid website. Green.Kid bottles are also endorsed by Cansa, with some proceeds from each sale going towards the organisation.

Definitely my favourite new find.
