Food art – where meals are truly too good to eat

May 16, 2013

My friend Tamarin over at I Want A Dodo published this on Monday, and with her permission I am reposting it here because it’s awesome stuff, from one artist who has created works of art using food.

I had to look at some of the plates several times to see if there was actually food there, because the art is that good.

Over to Tamarin…

I’m fairly sure that children from all over the world are discouraged from playing with their food. For most of us that means that your sibling won’t have to wear your spaghetti as a shirt! It makes me so happy when I come across pictures of people’s food creations. I’m surprised that it doesn’t have the opposite effect as I sometimes have difficulty icing a cake properly.

“Red” Hong Yi is an architect by day who at night, and in her spare time embarks on creative ventures. She says that she likes to paint, but not with a paintbrush. Every month she embarks on a new art project. Last month’s theme was food, as you’ll see here. This month the theme is portraits. Keep up to date with the projects on Instagram and through her website.
