I recently came across a range of baby/toddler cutlery and bowls that are so well designed I wish I had them them when my baby was moving onto solids, and when we battled with shallow spoons, clumsy bowls, and utensils that we couldn’t put in the microwave or dishwasher.

Danish company Fabrikators (whose tagline is “ingenious yet simple”) has a set of ergonomic toddler cutlery specifically for babies’ small, pudgy hands (they’re suitable from six months up).

The fork, spoon and knife have soft rubbery handles for easy gripping, and each are great for their respective uses. The fork isn’t sharp but can still spear food, the spoon is deep enough to get soft foods in, and the knife does a good job at “cutting” even though it has no blade.

The bowls have good stability and don’t slide, thanks to a slip-resistant surface and added weight in the bottom, and come in different sizes and depths. Called Toddler, the range is microwave- and dishwasher-safe, and free of BPA, PVC and Phthalates.
