Hot on the shelves: Woolworths’ new kiddies food range

February 8, 2018

A few weeks ago we received some of Woolworths’ new food items for kids, which excited me because a) I generally love anything Woolies, b) I always get excited by new Woolies products (I can’t be the only one happily trawling the aisles looking out for exciting new products?) and c) I got some inspiration and items for my son’s school lunches, and breakfast.

Among the items I like the most are the mini fruit salads. They’re called Fruity Toots fruit pots, and they’re fantastic for lunchboxes and easy snack options. And there’s nothing to say that adults can’t eat them too (especially if you’re not a fan of fruit but still want an intake, or you want to cut down on your fruit portions).

Next up are the new prepared meal options – Cheese-A-Roni, Eezy Cheezy Chicken and Treez, Chicken Noodle Doo, Mighty Meaty Lasagna, Crisscross Cottage Pie and more! Meals are made with considered ingredients such as whole wheat pasta, free range meat, and at least one of your five required vegetable portions for the day.

I’m not going to get self righteous and preachy and say that made-from-scratch meals are healthier for your kids. That’s probably so, but I turn to convenience food for my kids regularly (not daily) when I’m short of time – and inclination.

Also new are their lower-sugar cereals in fruit salad, berry, banana, chocolate or honeycomb varieties. They’re high in fibre and made from whole grains, and contain less than 1.5 teaspoons of sugar per serving (many cereals have around 2.5 to 3 teaspoons of sugar per serving).

Have you seen anything new and cool in Woolies, or tried any of the new kids’ range? Let me know…

Some old and new favourites…
