Wobbly walking on heels? Here’s how to find the right pair for you

August 20, 2020

I wish I was less wobbly walking on heels. A good pair of heels makes me feel more glam, and even though I’m tall’ish (1.73m), I enjoy the extra height too.

If you want to be more of a heels gal, even if it’s for special occasions only, here are some tips to follow:

Know your size

When buying a pair of heels, too many people make the mistake of buying a pair that are either too big or too small. We all want our heels to not only look the part, but feel the part too, so it’s advised to get your feet measured before you buy. In some instances, your feet can be two different sizes, and you will notice that your feet may be different sizes depending on the brand. Your feet can also change sizes during the day, so if you’re shopping in person, it’s best to try on heels in the afternoon so you can be confident they fit.

Pick the right material

If you’re after a pair of heels that will stand the test of time and give you excellent value for money, you need to focus on the material. Leather tends to be the most popular material as it’s known for being durable and easy to clean. There are luxury Versace heels and Valentino shoes from SSENSE you can check out which are made from leather. They also sell boots, flats, sneakers, and sandals that can be the perfect additions to your closet and ensure you have footwear ready for any occasion.

Think about your health

While a pair of high heels may look appealing, it’s a whole different story when you’re wearing them. Whether you’re going for a night out with your friends or going for a romantic meal with your partner, make sure you purchase a pair of heels that support you. Heel pain is not an attractive look, so if you want to enjoy the whole night and not be wincing in pain, it may be wise to knock an inch or two off the kinds of heels you normally wear.

High heels can not only throw your posture off, but can result in arthritis in the spine, so you must wear a heel that you’re comfortable with.

Take the walk test

When buying a pair of heels, you should always walk in them first before sealing the deal. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, you may have no option but to shop online. Thankfully, all reputable outlets will have a return policy, so once your heels land on your doorstep, you should do a practice walk in them to check whether they’re right for you. If you don’t feel comfortable in them, you should listen to your gut and return them.

While heels can be the perfect accessory to finish off your look and help you feel more confident, unless you have the right pair on your feet, you could end up in an immense amount of pain by the end of the night. All the tips above should help you on your journey of finding and purchasing the right heels.
