I’m not sure what it means exactly, but this Friday (June 26) is National Chocolate Pudding Day, and like every other random day (eg Towel Day, Chocolate Cake Cake, Cleavage Day), I guess we can make whatever we want out of them, or ignore them completely.
However, it being a day involving chocolate, and for any excuse to try out a new choc dessert that involved about four minutes of prep, I made Staffords Milk Chocolate Flavoured Mousse.
The last time I indulged in one of these instant dessert mixes was probably when I was five, and I used to help my mom make quick and easy pudding. Cue many years later, and these desserts are just as fab – quick, yum and awesome if you want to whip up (literally) a pud with your kids, or if you’ve left dessert prep to the last minute.
I can’t say that something like this will ever replace a chocolate mousse made from scratch, but it serves it purpose, and is a good fix.
Staffords also has other variants – Vanilla Flavoured Crème Caramel, Vanilla Crème Brûlée and Vanilla Panna Cotta Dessert Mix – and are available from leading retailers for around R 29.55 each.
