If there’s one thing you “should” do by November, this is it

September 4, 2012

Like Hello Kitty, running and Apple products, there are some things I feel very strongly about, and the Santa Shoebox Project is one of them. It’s an organisation that collects boxes of goodies, and distributes them to needy children around the country.

I don’t need to remind you how wonderful it is receiving gifts, especially over Christmas, and how many children have never received a gift, nor have basic toys or toiletries.

The Project has made it really easy – simply go onto their website, choose how many kids you want to send a box to, and even select who they are. Right now, I’m picturing my recipients – two special baby boys at Princess Alice Adoption home, and what I’m going to pack in their boxes. You’re encouraged to decorate each box, and fill them with at least the following: toothpaste and toothbrush, bar of soap and wash cloth, educational supplies, sweets and a toy. Obviously, these need to be age appropriate.

Then all you need to do is drop off the boxes at drop-off points closest to you towards the end of October (you can select your drop-off point on the website).

And voila – a happy child receives your gift by Christmas time.

Hope to see you sharing the love…
