One of the most affordable and effective pigmentation treatments around

March 27, 2018

One of my biggest skin issues is hyperpigmentation, which I’ve written about before. Over here, I wrote about my first Fraxel treatment, which is something I want to do again (despite the pain, which I still remember well).

After the treatment, the dermatologist recommended Eucerin Even Brighter day cream, night cream and Spot Corrector, which I used for a while, and then moved onto other products. It’s crazy how when something works, one still tries to find something else that could be better or offer more, only to come back to the same product you started with.

That’s what’s happened to me, and I’ve been using the Eucerin Even Brighter range since January. I wish I could say I have flawless skin now, but I don’t (unless I’m using one of my fantastic editing apps on my phone). As I’ve said here before, I don’t believe one product is the only key to fantastic skin – I think in my case there needs to be some kind of laser or other treatment (not just a facial or peel) to help too.

The reason I went back to Eucerin is because I saw they had a new’ish addition to the range – Even Brighter Concentrate, a set of six ampoules (each are 5ml) that can be applied under your day cream, and which Eucerin claims gets your skin looking brighter and more even in four weeks.

The key ingredient in the Even Brighter range is B-Resorcinol, a safe and affordable skin lightener and brightener, which also has antioxidant effects (ie they provide protection against the effects of damaging free radicals on your skin).

The other winner of an ingredient is glycyrrhetinic acid, which helps skin cells recover from sun damage.

I admit that I don’t use the concentrate every day – sometimes I forget, or don’t feel like adding another product to the four or five I apply every morning (I know that’s lazy, and that I might not be getting the best deal by not using it daily).

However, my skin is looking much better, and while my skin is by no means incredible, it’s improving. When I go running or to gym in the mornings, I don’t apply a BB cream anymore, and I’m not thaaat self conscious anymore. I still have pigmentation, especially on my forehead, but again, I don’t think I’m ever going to get rid of that bad boy without some Fraxel.

The range is affordable, easy to use (it absorbs well and has a pleasant smell) and is proven (not just claimed) to brighten skin and reduce pigmentation, so I’d highly recommend it. It’s staying in my daily routine, along with my other fave, Skinceuticals CE Ferulic (I wrote about it here). My bottle spilt two weeks ago, and despite a bit of pain forking out so much for it, the thought of not having it was worse.

The Eucerin Spot Corrector is around R186, the night cream R278, the day cream R331 and the Clinical Serum R500 (for six 5ml bottles). It’s available from Clicks and DisChem – keep an eye out at the former, as they often have 3-for-2 specials, so you can get the cheapest product for free.
