Birthday Party - Riley (103)

Tatum Arnold is a part-time party planner, so the pressure was kind of on for her four-year-old son Riley’s party. But armed with loads of ideas, Tatum organised a party with a lot of kick – a vintage superhero bash.

Says Tatum: “As a mom with a full time job and running my part time kids party planning business with a toddler in tow it is just – hectic, but every year I find myself under a huge amount of pressure to outdo myself and the parties I offer my clients children. I work and plan my son’s party throughout the year until November comes – then it’s the mad rush to put everything together!”

“We hired the Bergvliet scouts hall in Cape Town’s southern suburbs, which was the perfect venue and for those moms on the lookout – they even have an indoor braai for parents and an indoor pizza oven!

We made all the eats and snacks ourselves! I did most of the decor, and got vintage superhero serviettes, paper plates and food sticks from In Good Company. I hired Vintage Marvel Hero arcade games to keep the adults and the kids busy as luck would have it, it was the only weekend in November we experienced flooding!  These were hired from Ring a Rose in Diep River  – www.ringarose.co.za

Other items to keep the kiddies busy was a homemade photobooth, jumping castle, facepainting, hero tin toss ( old formula tins I wrapped in vintage superhero comic strips andcopied pages with a bean bag – this was a inexpensive hit with the kids ), a superhero comic book station and the Spiderman silly string shooting station.
