For me, finding the right pair of jeans without a bit of trauma and insecurity is about as difficult as telling my son that he can’t have more LEGO. With “generous” hips and thighs, jeans buying is often mission impossible, and I’ve been in many a change room when the legs don’t even reach my thighs.
Around two years ago, I had success, and found my dream jeans with the help of stylist Pippa Leenstra who knows all about flattering bodies with the correctly chosen clothing. I shared Pippa’s tips here on how to find the right pair of jeans for your body here , in case you want to check them out.
Pippa took me to Diesel in Sandton where I bought and thereby invested in the best pair of jeans I’ve ever had. I still wear them a lot, and despite some weight fluctuations since then, the jeans have grown or adapted to me (you can read about finding jeans here)
Diesel contacted me recently to find out if I wanted to try out their new JoggJeans. I was a bit hesitant as these sounded a bit unsexy, and I know that previously I’ve never been able to get into “jogger” jeans from other places.
Turns out that Diesel JoggJeans are very sexy, and aren’t just made for skinny legs. They come in his and hers are made from a “hybrid” fabric that has the stretch of sportswear, and the look of denim.
Diesel launched the innovative JoggJeans technology back in 2011, evolving and refining the fabric with it pioneering washes and treatments. This technically advanced denim material is woven from three threads, and can be treated like denim to achieve diverse dyeing, washing and distressing effects.
JoggJeans are soft and comfortable, and are versatile enough to dress up or down, with sneakers, flats or heels. Celebs like Taylor Lautner, Keri Hilson and Gwen Stefani wear them, but more important than an A-list endorsement is whether the jeans are as awesome as their promise. And indeed, these are good jeans.
I tried on a few pairs in different sizes and while the first pair didn’t make it beyond my knees, Zane, aka the miracle worker from the Sandton City branch, who matched me with my pair two years ago, found me the perfect JoggJeans. They’re comfortable, feel the right type of snug, and I’m as happy in them with my Nikes and Converse as I am in the heels I occasionally wear.
While they haven’t made me into a size 8 (and how could we expect that from clothes anyway?), they make me feel slimmer, but more than that, I feel really good in them and comfortable too – there’s no tightness, rubbing, flesh peeping out, or worrying about my weight. Quite the opposite, in fact.
