The story (iOS, $1.99) is suitable for all ages, and is about a beautiful tree that doesn’t want to lose its leaves in the winter, fearing that it won’t be beautiful anymore. It tries desperately to hang onto its leaves in the cold, and is then visited by a bird who says it’s necessary to let go when it’s time.
It echoes that time-old sentiment that there’s a time for everything (including life and death). Don’t worry that there might be a negative ending – it ends with a new tree sprouting up through the ground, indicating newness and promise.
The app also has music and sound effects, good animations that kids can manipulate, narration and a “learn to read” function. It can get a little slow at times, but it’s still a worthy app.
