App of the week: Wake (for moms who hate their alarm clocks, or can’t wake up to theirs)

I’m a pro at waking up when my toddler so much as whispers “mommy”, and since he was born I developed acute hearing – but only when it came to him. I can sleep through alarms and multiple snooze wake-ups, and this year I missed many a morning run, having slept through my alarm.

Enter Wake, an app for iOS, that is fun (well, as fun as it gets) waking up to, and is cool because:

– It has a great design and is easy to use; you simply turn a dial to set the time you want the alarm

– To switch the alarm off, you can choose how you’d prefer to do it: you can shake it, swipe it, or slap it

– You can set it to snooze – as many times as you want, and you can select how many minutes you want between each snooze (the minimum is 10, which I felt was a bit too much – I would have liked five)

– The alarm sound gets progressively louder

Available from iTunes for $1.99
