Avent launches new “Natural” range

February 13, 2013

I have used Philips Avent bottles and products (steriliser, and breast pump, pads and cups) since my baby was born. So when I was invited to the launch at the end of last year of the new Philips Avent “Natural” range, I was a bit reluctant as I’d become attached and connected to the old style – reminding me of those first months of pumping, feeding and winding. And why mess with a good thing (no leaks, no fuss, no babyhood colic)?

But, change is often good, and after 25 years, Philips Avent has added “comfort teats” to prevent wear, and a new anti-colic system (air is vented into the bottle through valves, which reduces the amount of air in babies’ tummies). The bottles are longer and thinner, and the teat is shaped more like a nipple than before.

The great thing about the whole range is that everything is interchangeable – you can use the old teats on the new bottles and vice versa, plus you can chop and change with the sippy cups too.

My three-year-old, who still drinks his milk from a bottle was a bit like me when he saw the new shape and design – quite reluctant. But he’s loving them, and while fortunately he’s not in the market for colic at his age, I can only assume that with the new innovations, we’d have the same non-colic results we had when he was a baby. I can safely say that we have had no leaking issues at all, and the teats are still surviving after some biting and gnashing.
