Now that I'm expecting again, I'm looking for new gadgets that will REALLY make my life easier when the baby is born, and not just promise to. And let's face it, there are plenty products claiming to save time and turn us into our better parents. (PS: I ended up buying this appliance after reviewing it).
There are some old favourites I'll go back to (even seven years later), some new products I'll avoid altogether, and others I'll put on my must-have list, like the Baby Brezza One Step Step Baby Food Maker, which has just launched locally.
It sounds good on paper – "the only system that steams and blends in one easy step", but it was only after trying a review unit that I was blown away. And when I remember the steps I used to take when steaming and pureeing all my baby's food, this is a breath of fresh air. Instead of using multiple devices, working out the food/water ratio, switching food from pot to the blender, and then washing everything up, with the Brezza, it's much easier.
The process goes something like this – fill the bowl with fruit, veg, meat, poultry or fish, and fill up the water container. Plug in, choose an option (ie steam, or steam and puree), choose the timing (10, 15 or 20 minutes, based on teh cooking guide in the directions), and press start. The machine does everything, and after the allotted time, you'll have a healthy puree ready to serve or freeze.

The bowl and blade are dishwasher safe, and the bowl is BPA free.
The Baby Brezza One Step is available from Baby City for R2 260.
