How it works
The My UV patch is a blue adhesive that contains photosensitive dyes that change colour when exposed to UV rays, which indicate varying levels of sun exposure. Stick it on your arm or hand, and wear it for up to five days (it fine to swim or shower with it – mine wrinkled at the edges a bit, but it was still readable). Apply sunscreen to the patch, enter your details into the free app, and scan the patch with the app when it tells you to (around every half hour).

Through an algorithm that takes into account your phototype, skin type, location and weather, when the app scans your patch, it will tell you whether or not you're being sun safe, and if it's time to apply sunscreen. The app will also tell you how much UV exposure you've had during the day, and when you've had too much sun. It will also even tell the ideal La Roche Posay Antehlios product and SPF level to use.

What the research shows
La Roche Posay survey results showed that:
- 63% experienced less sunburn
- 37% used more facial sunscreen
- 31% tried to stay in the shade more
How it could help you
No one is saying you should be wearing a patch every day, but, as they say, knowledge is power, and knowing a bit about your coverage and how you generally react to the sun is useful. It's also safe to use on kids, and you could get great insight into their coverage, and how often you should be reapplying (remember: infant and kids' skin is a lot more delicate than ours, so it's useful to know about what protection suits them and how often to apply, rather than just guess.
