You probably know probiotics from when your doctor prescribes them when you’re on antibiotics, or you already take them and have gone through multiple Multi GI-5 reviews and others similar to it to find the best ones. However, it could be at the bottom of your Dis-chem supplements list, because, hey, they’re not needed on a daily basis. But maybe, like me, you think that eating a huge tub of choc-chip Woolies plain yoghurt is sufficient enough for stomach health (apparently only natural yoghurt has probiotic benefits!)

Turns out, probiotics should be higher up on our shopping list, for our kids and ourselves. Why? In a nutshell, they’re good for the gut, helping food move through. According to my dietitian Abby Courtenay of Nutritional Solutions probiotics are not only good for day-to-day stomach health, but are useful in treating irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, and diarrhoea.
They can also ease the symptoms of constipation, and reduce the chance of you getting travellers’ diarrhoea.
Probiotics can be found in foods such as plain unflavoured yoghurt, kefir, sauerkraut, miso, pickles, tempeh and kombucha tea, but let’s face it, some of these are hard to pronounce, let alone find readily and tastily in stores. This is why supplements are often recommended, as they’re easy to access.
Entiro is a probiotic supplement that looks after your entire gut (no other probiotic looks after the entire gut). Entiro takes care of your entire gut, restoring, maintaining and balancing intestinal flora.Developed in Denmark, Entiro can be used with antibiotics (1 to 2 capsules/chewable tablets daily), or as a daily probiotic (1 capsule/chewable tablet per day with breakfast).
