Finally – a shampoo, AND a conditioner for kids’ hair

For about two years, when my son had fairly long, curly and tangled hair, I asked myself – and Twitter – the still-unanswered question: Where does one find conditioner for babies’ and kids’ hair?

Unless I wasn’t trawling hard enough, I never found it, and instead used “grownup” conditioner for my son’s hair. Nothing ever happened to him or his hair, but I was always hoping for a more gentle alternative to “grownup” products.

And then, a few weeks ago I read about the L’Oreal Tendresse range, and tried it. I first used the shampoo and conditioner on my own hair – it has a beautiful peach smell and has no parabens or silicones. It states that it’s naturally formulated, won’t irritate the eyes, and is gentle on the skin.

The best part? The condition is a leave-in, which means you only have to one rinsing, when you shampoo.

The verdict

I’m sorry I didn’t have this earlier for my son, and even though he doesn’t really need conditioner with short hair now, I’ll use the shampoo. He likes the packaging (scary – it’s all about packaging even now), and didn’t howl too much when I rinsed his hair. His hair appeared clean afterwards.

I might use the range from time to time too – I adore the smell, and it surprisingly left my hair very soft.

At around R220 each for the shampoo and conditioner, it’s not cheap, but you might find it worthwhile if you’re looking for quality products and need a conditioner that detangles and conditions well.
