Johnson’s Baby launches their new “stamp of approval”, Triple Baby Protection

October 3, 2014

Having worked on women’s mags for almost 10 years, I became a bit sceptical about products claims, and maybe a bit old and jaded questioning claims such as “eradicates fine lines”, “gets rid of cellulite”, and “clears away pigmentation”.

I’m less worried about what products with big claims do to my skin and hair than I worry about what they do to my child’s skin (and even more so when he was a baby).

I think we should be questioning everything we read on a label, and even more so on products that claim to be “all natural”. What does this mean even, and how stringently are these products tested for babies and kids?

Anyway, this blog post isn’t a rant nor a lecture, but rather a good-to-know message that Johnson’s Baby has just introduced a Triple Baby Protection claim, which you might have noticed on its products already.

In a nutshell, the Triple Baby Protection seal on Johnson’s Baby products means that products are “beyond compliant”. What then does this mean? Well, it means that the products are over and above quality, standards and safety.

Let’s break it down into the three Baby Protection claims:

1. The products are safe

Products have been caringly selected, sourced, developed and produced according to high standards to ensure they are gentle, safe and appropriate for babies.

2. The products are mild

Since baby skin is prone to more dryness, irritation and infection than adult skin, products need to be developed to suit this. Johnson’s Baby products are tested rigorously for safety and mildness.

In addition, products that bear the No More Tears formula trademark undergo in vitro and clinical tests to assess potential eye irritation, redness and stinging, in order to protect babies’ eyes. After a product is on the market, Johnson’s Baby continue to monitor its use to ensure that it is well tolerated and perceived as mild by consumers.

3. The products are effective

The products are developed and tested to ensure they do what they say – cleanse, moisturise or protect.

Johnson’s Baby products undergo testing to ensure that they are optimal for healthy skin and hair.

PS: What I like is that Johnson’s Baby is ALWAYS testing their formulations, and even assessing after they’re on shelf. I’m not sure how many other products do that?
