At a recent event, we heard that children laugh around 300 times a day, whereas adults laugh around 20 times a day. As a mom I’m sure this number is a bit higher – I’m often laughing with my child, or at myself for forgetting things like my son’s schoolbag at home, the parking ticket (it’s a big victory when I can keep one in my hand or bag), or leaving the house with a mark or handprint on my black top.
But still, even around 30 bits of laughter a day isn’t great, so if you’re looking for some more chuckles or even side-splitting “my ribs are sore” laughter, then M-Net has something for you.
Firstly, M-Net is screening a stand-up comedy festival this month (see some of the lineup below), plus they’re also running a YouTube competition with four local comedians. Each comedian has created a short and funny pre-roll to promote the comedy festival, and the one who accumulates the longest view time will win R10 000.

I don’t want to share my favourite as it’s not really fair, but if this person wins, I want to have them over for dinner for what could be one of the funniest meals ever.
Watch the four clips below for some laughs (remember, the comedian with the longest view times in total will win)
