Product of the week: the brilliant UpSpring Milkscreen, for detecting alcohol in breast milk

December 7, 2016

UpSpring Milkscreen lets you have your chardonnay or G&T while you're breastfeeding and helps keep your sanity and peace of mind by detecting whether your milk has alchohol in it.

Every time I enjoy a glass of wine (and I REALLY enjoy it after nine+ months of abstaining), instead of pumping and dumping neurotically, or feeding while worrying that I'm about to kill my daughter's brain cells and damage her liver, I use Milkscreen, which is like a dipstick that can read whether your breastmilk is safe to drink or not. The stick just needs a few drops of milk to do a reading, so it's non-invasive and very easy.

It takes about two minutes for the result, and with that knowledge, you have a better direction about what to do.

It's something I won't drink without anymore, and it's something every breastfeeding mom who enjoys the odd glass of wine or more should know about, so spread the word.
