When my friend and blogger Tania posted her son Daniel’s Star Wars cake that she had made – by hand, I was impressed and in awe. As tempted as I am to ask her to make my son a cake for his third birthday, and shlepping it to Joburg, I thought it more prudent to feature it here, along with Daniel’s awesome party.
“When our son Daniel turned 6 this month he desperately wanted a Star Wars party. I usually prefer having parties at home and avoid themed parties like the plague as there is just too much that can go wrong, but there was no chance I was changing his mind this time. So Star Wars it was.
My husband and I trawled the internet and found some amazing ideas that were surprisingly light on the pocket. (do you want me to include all the links here or just post a link to my blog where all the links are?)
We made a table with labelled food from all the Star Wars characters, had big bubbles as Light Sabers, we printed some masks, had a colouring in station and the coup d’état: a pinata. Even though my darling Husband insisted on making the pinata himself, we had to concede to buying one after an unfortunate incident with some wet paper mache, an oven and a burst balloon.
We kept the party small and it was probably the most fun we’ve had in ages as we were surrounded by all our good friends!”
